Nokian Tyres Educates Consumers During Drive Electric Week
The company is partnering with Plug In America to spread the word about EV tire safety tips
DAYTON, Tenn. – Nokian Tyres is supporting National Drive Electric Week September 27 through October 6, an initiative from Plug In America, Electric Auto Association, EVHybridNoire, Drive Electric USA and Sierra Club that raises awareness of the benefits of electric and plug-in vehicles.
The inventor of the winter and all-weather passenger tires is using the campaign to educate consumers about how tires can help enhance electric vehicles’ safety, performance, efficiency and comfort.
“As more electric vehicles than ever touch the road, we enjoy helping EV drivers choose the right tires for their unique needs,” said Nokian Tyres North America Director of Marketing Hans Dyhrman. “While many EV consumers are knowledgeable about their vehicles, it’s also vital to understand how the right tires can help keep them safe, perform well and maintain excellent range.”
During National Drive Electric Week, Nokian Tyres is partnering with Plug In America on content that informs drivers about the importance of “WNTR” – weight, noise, temperature and range – in their tire purchases this fall season. The tiremaker will also share informative materials on its social media channels -- @NokianTyresNA on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Threads.
"We're excited to have a premier tire manufacturer help us spread the word about EVs during National Drive Electric Week,” said Plug In America Executive Director Joel Levin. “Having high-performing tires can enhance the EV driving experience, and Nokian Tyres products are one of drivers' favorites."
Since electric vehicles are heavier and quieter than internal-combustion-engine vehicles, EV tires face special demands. Nokian Tyres offers dedicated EV winter tires – the Nokian Tyres Hakkapeliitta 10 EV and Hakkapeliitta R5 EV. And the latest generations of all its tires come with an Electric Fit symbol, which signifies they are seamless fits for drivers of electric vehicles.
Nokian Tyres invented the winter tire in 1934 and introduced the all-weather passenger tire to North America in 1999. Its all-season and all-weather tires for the United States and Canada come from an award-winning factory in Dayton, Tennessee, where the company increased capacity and added a finished goods warehouse in 2024.
