Who Has the Worst Roads in North America? Nokian Tyres Invites Drivers to Vote

DAYTON, Tenn. – Which state or province has the worst roads in North America? Between March 30 and April 10, Nokian Tyres invites drivers to vote for the area they believe has the roughest surfaces.

The global tiremaker has launched a voting campaign on its social media channels -- @NokianTyresNA on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok. Nokian Tyres also invites consumers to make a case for their regions at NokianTyres.com/Potholes. Qualifying entrants from the United States and Canada will be eligible to win a set of tires that come with Nokian Tyres’ Pothole Protection warranty.

The bracket-style competition includes champions and key contenders from previous versions of the annual contest. The semifinal round features:

• Quebec vs. Massachusetts
• Colorado vs. Oregon

Consumers who live elsewhere are invited to enter the write-in competition at the contest website.

“Our tires come with a Pothole Protection warranty because we understand the unique challenges of North American roads,” said Nokian Tyres North America Director of Marketing Hans Dyhrman. “While the ‘Worst Roads’ contest offers a chance to complain about potholes and rough surfaces, it’s also an opportunity for consumers to learn about the ways Nokian Tyres helps keep them safe thanks to our aramid-reinforced products.”

Nokian Tyres infuses the latest generations of its tires with aramid fibers, the same material found in the aerospace and defense industries. The lightweight fiber helps prevent punctures and blowouts by strengthening a tire’s sidewalls – and in some cases, by reinforcing its tread, too. Tires infused with aramid include the new Nokian Tyres Hakkapeliitta 01, the world’s first studded winter tire with on-demand grip, which the company debuted in March and begins selling this fall.

Aramid-equipped tires are eligible for Nokian Tyres’ Pothole Protection program. If a tire suffers damage beyond repair from a road hazard or pothole, the company will replace it at no cost. *

Nokian Tyres will promote the campaign via social media posts, testimonials from North American brand ambassadors and messaging from its business partners. The inventor of the winter tire makes all-season, all-weather and winter tires for the North American market.
