Nokian Tyres, POWDR Planting Trees for Season Passes Sold This Fall

The “Buy a Pass. Plant a Tree. Play Forever” program is in its fourth year
DAYTON, Tenn. – Guests at POWDR resorts still have a chance to have a tree planted on their behalf when they buy season passes at participating resorts. Nokian Tyres and POWDR are teaming up to plant a tree for every 24/25 qualifying season pass purchased during the resorts’ discounted price windows this fall.
It’s the fourth year the companies have partnered with One Tree Planted to help protect scenic areas impacted by deforestation. In the first three years of the “Buy a Pass. Plant a Tree. Play Forever” program, the partners have helped restore hundreds of acres of deforested land and supported efforts to combat soil erosion, the effects of a beetle epidemic and the ongoing degradation of riparian areas across the United States.
“Nokian Tyres cares about keeping winter journeys beautiful, and we’re thankful POWDR shares that mission,” said Nokian Tyres North America Director of Marketing Hans Dyhrman. “We’re eager to partner with POWDR and winter recreation enthusiasts to work toward a safer, greener world.”
POWDR Vice President of Partnerships Meghan Matschke added, “We remain as committed as ever to helping restore the crucial role forests play in carbon sequestration and ecosystem support. It’s inspiring to see the progress we’ve made and know that our efforts are contributing to community resilience. We look forward to the expanded impact the trees we plant this year will create.”
POWDR’s Play Forever sustainability initiative has resulted in, among other impacts, millions of dollars in contributions inside the communities where the company operates, millions of gallons of water saved, tens of thousands of pounds of trash and plastic collected through ongoing recycling programs and mountain cleanups, and millions of kilowatt-hours of electricity used at its resorts from alternative energy sources.
These and other sustainability activities at POWDR’s North American ski resorts support the company’s stated mission to allow future generations to live balanced lives full of adventure.
Nokian Tyres strives to be an industry leader in sustainability. Its North American factory in Dayton, Tennessee is the only tire production facility in the world to earn LEED v4 Silver certification. One hundred percent of production waste at the factory is recycled or reused. More than 90 percent of Nokian Tyres products are in the lowest categories of rolling resistance, helping drivers minimize emissions and get the most out of each fuel fill-up.
