Nokian Tyres Hakkapeliitta R5 SUV Becomes Official Winter Tire of Rivian R1

DAYTON, Tenn. – Rivian has designated the Nokian Tyres Hakkapeliitta R5 SUV as the official winter tire of its R1 vehicle platform in North America. The American electric vehicle manufacturer now sells the non-studded winter product in the Rivian Gear Shop, alongside other essential gear and accessories. The Hakkapeliitta R5 SUV is compatible with both the Rivian R1T and R1S.

The tire is available for purchase immediately, with installation at select Rivian service centers. The vehicle manufacturer partnership is the first of its kind in North America for Nokian Tyres, which invented the winter tire and sells all-season, all-weather and winter products throughout the United States and Canada.

The Nokian Tyres Hakkapeliitta R5 SUV is the Finnish tiremaker’s latest-generation non-studded winter tire. Tailored to meet the needs of powerful and large vehicles, the Hakkapeliitta R5 SUV offers optimized stability, durability and wear resistance while managing high loads with precision. Arctic Grip Crystals maximize handling and braking, while Aramid-reinforced sidewalls provide durability and puncture resistance.

The SUV model of the Nokian Tyres Hakkapeliitta R5 comes with enhanced durability properties and higher load capacity to handle EVs’ unique demands, such as weight and torque, while delivering a comfortable and efficient ride thanks to a low-rolling-resistance compound.

The Hakkapeliitta R5 SUV is certified with the Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake emblem and Ice Grip Symbol to signify elite winter safety. It comes with Nokian Tyres’ Electric Fit certification that confirms it was developed and tested with EVs in mind. The tire’s Green Trace tread compound is designed for efficiency and includes recycled and renewable materials.
