How do tires change after use?

Over time, the rubber compound in a tire’s tread becomes harder, especially when exposed to heat and sunlight.

How deep are the groove depths of new and old tires?

Groove depth is portrayed as millimeters on the tread on Nokian tires. New tires have a groove depth of over 8 millimeters, though often more than 9 millimeters.

How can I measure my tires’ tread depth?

The easiest way is to use a penny – place it in the main groove of the tread, in the center with Lincoln’s head upside down and facing you. If you can see all of Lincoln’s head, your tread depth is less than 2/32 and it is time to replace the tires.

Where can I dispose of my old tires?
